Privacy Policy

This policy describes the Cruftless macOS app. Cruftless is a local developer-storage utility: it inventories Xcode and CoreSimulator files on your Mac and can permanently remove items you explicitly review and approve.

The short version

Cruftless does not require an account and does not send your files, inventory, deletion choices, or app-use information to the developer. The app has no cloud service, telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDK.

Data the app reads locally

To show reclaimable developer storage, Cruftless reads file-system metadata and the contents of the Xcode and CoreSimulator locations it supports. It may read simulator metadata and local Xcode preferences where needed to identify an item or apply a safety check. This information stays on your Mac and is used to build the inventory and review screens.

Cruftless can also save its last inventory locally so the menu bar window has something useful to display while a new scan runs. This is local application data, not a copy sent to the developer.

Protected folders

If you add folders to Cruftless’s protected-folder settings, their paths are stored on your Mac so the deletion guard can refuse actions that would contain them. Protected paths are never uploaded.

Permanent deletion

Cruftless permanently removes only the items you choose after a review step. This is a local file operation. It does not create a copy of removed material for the developer, and it does not use your Trash because moving files there does not immediately reclaim disk space.

Website visits are separate

This policy is about the app, not every visit to danmunoz.com. The website currently includes Vercel Web Analytics in its site layout. Visiting this page can therefore involve data processing by the website’s analytics provider and the normal technical processing involved in serving a web page. Cruftless itself does not send app data to that service.

The website and app have different contexts: viewing this policy does not connect your website activity to a Cruftless inventory or deletion action.

Changes and contact

This policy may change if Cruftless gains a feature that changes how data is handled. The current version will remain at this address with a revised date. Questions about privacy can be sent to support@danmunoz.com.
